Spring production of 'Prepare to Meet Thy Tomb'(Posted in Mar 2011) Rehearsals for our Spring production of 'Prepare to Meet Thy Tomb' by Norman Robbins are well underway. Ian Atherton is producing this play, ably assisted by Sheila Todd. The show will run from 2-7th May in the Turret Theatre. Tickets will be available very soon in The Olde Sweetie Shop, Kirkintilloch (Order forms available). Come along and enjoy what promises to be an excellent night's entertainment. Act One Festival in Glasgow(Posted in Mar 2011) Congratulations to our adult team who were 4th in the SCDA Glasgow District One Act Festival. Their production of the Harold Pinter play ,'Ashes to Ashes' was well received by both the adjudicator and audience. Kirky Youth in the Western Division Youth Final(Posted in Mar 2011) Congratulations to Kirkintilloch Youth who performed very well at the Western Division Youth Final. Despite the very early start and late night, the youth members had an excellent day out in Stranraer. This was the first time all 12 members had performed in the one act festival and it was an experience they all enjoyed. Full-length Competition(Posted in Mar 2011) Our production of 'Memory of Water' by Shelagh Stephenson won first place in Glasgow District Full Length Competition. Well done to Rosina Robinson and her cast and crew. Bugsy Malone(Posted in Mar 2011) Following an intense weekend of auditions, Bugsy Malone has finally been cast and is about to begin rehearsals. Well done to all those who were successful. The first rehearsal will be in the Turret on Tuesday 8th March , 7-9pm. SCDA Glasgow District Festival(Posted in Mar 2011) Well done to the casts of 'The Terrible Fate of Humpty Dumpty' and 'Ashes to Ashes', who both performed well. The youth team were delighted to be the first winners of the new Youth Trophy and will now proceed to the Western Division Final in Sranraer on the 19th March. They were also took 3rd place in the Audience Award. The adult entry were overall 4th. Our autumn production 'Memory of Water' won the full length trophy. This is the third year in a row we have won this award. Spring Full Length(Posted in Jan 2011) The reading night for this year’s full length play will take place on 9th Feb at 7:30pm in The Turret Theatre. This is a social occasion which allows the members and those who are interested in joining the club to find out about the play. Auditions will take place on 14th Feb. The Full length will be produced by Ian Atherton and will run from 2-9th May. The proposed play is ‘Prepare to Meet Thy Tomb’ by Norman Robbins which has parts for 6 women and 4 men of varying ages from 19 to 60+ however there will be a second play under consideration. Youth Summer Show(Posted in Jan 2011) The registration night of this year’s summer show is on 22nd Feb at 6:30pm with the auditions being on 26th and 27th Feb. Julie Cassells will be producing the show, which will be Bugsy Malone. Youths must be aged between 10-17. Curry and Bowling Night(Posted in Jan 2011) This event was postponed from before Christmas due to the terrible weather but has been rearranged for 11th March. Panto Tickets(Posted in Dec 2010) Tickets for this year's panto, 'Cinderella' are now in The Old Sweetie Shop, Kirkintilloch. Hurray to avoid disappointment as 87% of the tickets have already been sold Curry / Bowling Night(Posted in Dec 2010) Due to the adverse weather the Curry/Bowling night has been postponed. Reading and Audition Night - 1 Act Festival play(Posted in Nov 2010) The reading night will take place in the Turret Theatre on Mon 29th Nov at 7:30pm. A final decision about the play will be made on the night as there are several under consideration with parts for all ages. The play will be auditioned on that night. Come along and join in. New members are welcome. Youth SCDA Entry(Posted in Nov 2010) This year’s youth entry to the SCDA I Act festival has been auditioned and cast. The play is ‘The Terrible Fate of Humpty Dumpty’ by David Culcut and rehearsals are now underway with the 12 youth members taking part in the festival for the first time. Quiz Night(Posted in Oct 2010) Another successful Quiz Night was held in the Turret Theatre on Sat 23rd October. Thanks to Iain and Sheena Carmichael for all their research in setting the questions and organising the event, it was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion. This year the event ended in a draw between Stranraer (Graeme Carmichael and his friends) and Berwick Rangers (Shirley and Russell Angus and Lorna Campbell). A tie break question saw Graeme’s team as overall champions. The evening finished with Chinese food and many discussions about the answers that everyone thought they knew. Thanks to everyone involved in the organisation. Time to start studying in preparation for next year!! Next Social Event- Bowling and Curry Night (check your Spotlight for details) Cinderella – 15th- 22nd January 2011 Lenzie Public Hall(Posted in Oct 2010) Rehearsals for our annual pantomime started this week with a ‘getting to know you’ games session, before the cast got down to rehearsing the finale song, which was sounding great already. Even though rehearsals have just began, ticket sales are going well with 49% sold already . Ticket order forms have gone out to cast and club members. If you wish to order tickets, email the club and an order form will be sent to you. Tickets cost £8 adults and £7 conc. They won the National Final of Scottish Community Drama's Youth Festival in Dingwall on 19th June. The play they performed was called Tick Tock. It was written by one of our members, Amy Angus and was performed by 4 very talented girls from our Youth Theatre. ![]() |
